Publication shows three key objectives of such a coordinated external cultural policy. First, it could help to create a strong, unified image of countries working together in an ambience of respect and cultural diversity. Second, a shared cultural policy could develop wider markets for Europe's vast cultural heritage and cultural industries. Last, it could reinforce a two-way approach to international cultural policy, based on acceptance of and a positive attitude to the multicultural nature of European societies. A common external cultural policy for Europe, could therefore contribute to mutual understanding and resolving conflicts. Country profiles with literature lists.
